We Were Meant To Live For So Much More...

Therefore, since we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses let us run the race that is before us with endurance. Let us cast aside anything that hinders us and the sin that so easily entangles us. Let us keep our eyes on Jesus, the founder of our faith and who completes it. He endured the cross, despising the shame because of the joy that lay ahead for Him. And now He is sitting at the right hand of God's throne.
Hebrews 12:1-2

Beauty in the midst of Darkness

The images I have here so far, a few in particular, the image of the Habitat for Humanity, the Mfulani Boys, and Skies over Africa really, for myself, help me see some of the true beauty that can exist in the midst of Darkness. To see the happiness on the faces of those in these pictures just really goes to show how God can work when you think there is nothing there, nothing left, when all is expended. I really like how these images portray a fraction of a fraction of who God is and how He works in ever situation that we could ever imagine or hope would or would not ever become reality.

And then I look at the image I have titled Light & Darkness and think, "this is exactly what I though Africa to be before I came here." I knew Africa to be a place where there is so much beauty everywhere, but also had the knowledge that there is such destruction strung all through the continent as well at the same time. I like how this image takes and portrays that so well. The central figure in mid step, a completely accidental photograph in how perfectly this guy is captured, is walking toward the light. And to think that the figure is dressed in all white for the most part. And then everything else around him is dark, whether it be the scenery, the people, the clothes. Then you notice a few dots/ spot of lightness here and there. The thoughts that this image provoke are extrordinary to myself.
This image has became my favorite image of my whole time spent in Africa, almost six months.
